Key Components
Ice Maker Module
The main control unit that regulates the ice production cycle, monitors temperature, and controls water fill and harvest operations.
Water Inlet Valve
Solenoid-operated valve that controls water flow into the ice maker. Features built-in filter screen to prevent clogging.
Mold Thermostat
Temperature sensor that detects when water in the ice mold has frozen completely, signaling the harvest cycle to begin.
Harvest Heater
Heating element that warms the ice mold slightly to release ice cubes during the harvest cycle.
Ejector Blades
Rotating blades that push ice cubes from the mold into the storage bin. Made of durable food-grade plastic.
Shut-off Arm
Mechanical arm that stops ice production when the storage bin is full, preventing overflow and waste.
Ice Production Cycle Components
Fill Phase
Water inlet valve opens to fill ice mold with precise amount of water
Freeze Phase
Mold thermostat monitors freezing progress in freezer compartment
Harvest Phase
Harvest heater warms mold while ejector blades rotate to release ice
Collection
Ice cubes fall into storage bin, shut-off arm monitors fill level
Reset
System resets and begins new cycle if bin is not full
Shut-off
Production stops when shut-off arm is raised by full ice bin
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No ice production | Water supply issue, clogged filter, faulty inlet valve | Check water supply, replace filter, test inlet valve operation |
| Small or hollow ice cubes | Low water pressure, restricted water line | Check water pressure, inspect water line for kinks or restrictions |
| Ice maker runs continuously | Faulty mold thermostat, stuck shut-off arm | Test thermostat continuity, ensure shut-off arm moves freely |
| Ice cubes stuck in mold | Failed harvest heater, mineral buildup | Test heater element, clean mold with vinegar solution |
| Water leaking in freezer | Cracked water line, loose connections | Inspect water lines, tighten all connections |
| Ice tastes or smells bad | Old water filter, contaminated water supply | Replace water filter, check water source quality |
Error Indicators
- No Light: No power to ice maker - Check electrical connection and household circuit
- Continuous Light: Ice maker in harvest cycle - Normal operation if temporary
- Flashing Light: Error detected - Check for obstructions or component failure
- No Water Flow: Water supply issue - Check valve, filter, and supply line
- Motor Humming: Jammed ejector blades - Clear obstruction from blades
- Overflowing Bin: Faulty shut-off arm - Test arm mechanism and switch
